On 13-08-2023, after years of trading with fellow drummers and collecting, Arthur Theunissen decided that more people should actually be able to enjoy the drumsticks.
Drummers are the “backbone” of the band but often remain underexposed.
That day, the idea for The Drumstick Hall of Fame was born.
Drumsticks and other band-related items were collected and lists were purchased.
Over the weeks and months, a time-consuming project was set up to select, trace and write to drummers. This was initially done via Facebook and E-mail.
A large number of drummers responded to the call to donate their played and signed drumsticks. This was followed up by friends, acquaintances and also complete strangers with the same passion who also supplied drumsticks. Drummers were nominated by fellow drummers, fans, bands, family and friends.
2024 became a year of unprecedented heights. We are proud of all drummers who wanted to contribute.
The Drumstick Hall of Fame is in talks with several parties in Arnhem and the surrounding area to find a permanent location for this unique collection. We are thinking of a café or restaurant (Win-win situation, people come for the unique collection and can eat and drink right away). Placement at a music venue is also one of the options. Due to the size of the collection, the latter is becoming increasingly difficult, so we will be looking for a location to rent or buy in Arnhem. (All suggestions and help are welcome).
The Drumstick Hall of Fame is a concept that celebrates the achievements and contributions of exceptional individuals in the world of drumming. It is a place where drummers, from beginners to professionals, who have made significant impacts in the field of music—particularly with drums—are recognized and honored.
The idea behind the Hall of Fame is to highlight and commemorate the legacy of drummers who have influenced musical genres, techniques, or the drumming community in various ways.
For now, keep donating, sponsoring, nominating and especially helping to make this a huge success!
