Drummer best known to the general public as the drummer of the Bintangs. In 1959 the group was still called “Rocket Dynes” and “Black Panthers” but from 1961 they called themselves The Bintangs which means “stars” in Malay. The group comes from Beverwijk and is founded by the brothers Frank and Arti Kraaijeveld. Aad Hooft plays the drums in 1968. Aad continues to do so until 1974 after which he leaves for Oscar Benton. The sound of Bintangs changed after 2007 partly under the influence of the Ibelings brothers: it became ‘rougher’, less melodic. From 2012 onwards, they also occasionally performed in a different line-up consisting of Frank Kraaijeveld, Dagomar Jansen, a veteran on drums such as Aad Hooft or Burt van der Meij, supplemented by guitarist Marco Nicola from the Trembling Highburies, this under the name Bintangs Oertrax and later Bintangs Bluestrax; this line-up focuses on older and more melodic work. With the Blue eyed blues band, Aad plays on the album “Blue eyed baby” and also on the 7′ of Terry Lee And The Big Rock Revival – You’re Mine.
