Harmen has always played drums from an early age and played in various bands. At school he met Mark Bogert and together with brother Matthijs Kieboom they formed their first prog band Penny’s Twisted Flavor. At that time, he regularly did odd jobs in Martijn Schimmer’s studio and was able to provide drum parts for TV leaders such as De Wereld Draait Door and The Voice of Holland. Ultimately, Penny ended up in the refrigerator, his paths and that of Mark parted and he accidentally came into contact with old fellow student Bob Wijtsma. Bob played in Ex Libris (Symphonic Porgressive Metal band) and they were looking for a drummer. An inspiring and educational time began. The collaboration with Dianne van Giersbergen, Koen Stam, Luuk van Gerven, Bob Wijtsma and Joost van den Broek resulted in a fantastic triptych “Ann”. (Definitely worth checking!!) After a ‘brief intermission’, the collaboration with Mark Bogert was resumed. Whether he wanted to participate in a project about Jack the Ripper. Magoria was born!! Not long after the release of JtR1888 on November 9, 2019, the pandemic broke out. The lockdown was used to write new music: Hollingsworth Mansion was released in April this year. In the meantime, his childhood hero Edward Reekers also managed to find him. First at the Progproms, later also for the live shows of his solo album The Liberty Project. The collaboration with brother Matthijs Kieboom has also continued. Matthijs, film composer, occasionally uses his drum parts for films, series and documentaries. (Wolf, Gooise Vrouwen) And there’s more to come! 2025 promises to be a busy musical year with new developments!
