Jerôme Miedendorp de Bie is a versatile Dutch drummer who has been active in various bands within the alternative and underground music scene. Paroxysm (early 90s)
Paroxysm was a rock/metal band with influences from thrash and heavy metal. In addition to a number of demos, they recorded a track ‘Love Lunacy’ in Franky’s Recording Kitchen (Nieuwleusen) in 1992, which was released on a compilation CD ‘And Justice For None’ Soundcloud
Freaky Side Effect (mid 90s)
An alternative rock band with influences from funk/nu metal. This band Jerôme’s dynamic drumming contributed to the energetic and experimental sound of the band. They never released an album but did play a lot live.
Spitball (1999/2002)
Spitball was a Dutch band that played a mix of electronic music and rock. Jerôme’s tight and fast drumming was an essential part of the band. He played on the album ‘Pop Condition’ (2000). YouTube
Drive By Wire (2008/2018)
A stoner rock band from Deventer, founded in 2006. The band combines heavy guitar lines with psychedelic influences. Jerôme’s drumming style strengthened the groove-oriented sound of the band. Cords (2009-2015)
An alternative rock band with a unique mix of noise and rock. This band was known in the 90s and did a reunion tour to promote a compilation album. Habitants (2017 – Present)
A shoegaze/dream pop band founded by René Rutten (The Gathering) and Gema Pérez. The band released the album ‘One Self’ in 2018, characterized by dreamy sound textures and emotional depth. In 2024 the album ‘Alma’ followed, on which Jerôme’s subtle and atmospheric drumming contributed to the melancholic atmosphere of the music.
Performances and Tours
Jerôme has performed on various stages with all these bands, both in the Netherlands and internationally. With Drive By Wire and Habitants he toured and performed at many clubs and festivals, where he was known for his energetic drumming. His performances with Habitants were praised for their emotional intensity and musical layers.
