Don Marco Sitta is a Drummer with Italian and Indonesian roots.
He started his musical career at the age of 12 as a trumpet player at the Fanfare (Kunst na Arbeid in Doorwerth).
He had lessons there and when he had mastered it he had to walk along. Which he kindly declined because he did not want to walk around in such a suit.
Because he was drumming everywhere (and still is), a friend of the family had said that Sitta had a sense of rhythm and that he should “do” something with it.
And so it happened that he had drum lessons.
After about half a year the teacher said that the basics and technique were already well in place and if he wanted to learn more than the teacher could teach him
He should visit jam sessions and play along and find a band.
And so it happened and Sitta was a regular guest at jam sessions in “De Rijnpoort” and “Celtic Angel” in Arnhem. Because they practiced every day in a room without soundproofing at home, everyone in the neighborhood could enjoy the drumming. At one point there was a note in the mailbox, no, not a complaint about the nuisance but from a band that had heard Sitta practicing with the question whether Sitta was interested in coming to play drums with their band called “Immoral Vexation”. Auditioned and accepted.
And the first band was a fact.
After a number of years and concerts, including on Terschelling at the maritime school (there are sound and video recordings of ) the most memorable, it stopped due to weddings and having children.
Sitta continued looking for a band.
He ended up at the Jacobiberg in Arnhem where a band called “Degenerate” was practicing, which also had name changes due to many line-up changes and also performed as “Don’t Ask” in Willemeen Arnhem and as “Remorse” in Cafe One and de Flater etc.
When that also came to an end, Sitta met 2 members of his first band again and together they rented a space at the Jacobiberg again.
Initially as rhythm guitarist because there was also another drummer present.
When we were asked by the Jacobiberg if we wanted to play at the Easter concerts there, we said yes and this drummer could not be present, Sitta rattled off his beloved instrument again and rehearsed the set (of half an hour) in two months and played as “Fienk” at the Easter concerts on April 1, 2002.
To then end up with Fitzkin after a break of many years.
After a performance at the Brigant in Arnhem it was unfortunately forced to end again.
After that, with Local Hero Pim Baars, he had a band called “No Label Society”.
When that ended, Sitta took the plunge and placed an advertisement on the musicians’ bank on Facebook for a band to be formed.
There was a response, including from an existing band from The Hague called “LAVA”, which has been around since 1972.
Since then, Sitta has been allowed to perform his skills there.
