Mike Meijer was once called ‘a pop veteran without a ribbon’ in the Nieuwe Revue. Whether that was meant positively is not entirely clear, but it is somewhat true: Mike played drums in bands such as the Scene, de Gigantjes, Jump Dickie Jump, Gruppo Sportivo and with the music theatre group Orkater. In addition, he released a whole series of CDs as a singer/composer/lyricist/multi-instrumentalist that you can listen to on Spotify. Mike also wrote a book about drumming, drums and drummers called Boem! In January 2020, he released his collection of poems and stories HET PODUIMBEEST. He performs as drummer/singer of the blues band RUSTY APOLLO and together with his son Mozes he has a duo in which he sings his lyrics to music that Mozes makes. In addition to all these activities, Mike was also a teacher at the MBO music in Amsterdam for 4 years and has regularly played small roles in various television series and films and leading roles in commercials for more than 40 years.
