Michael Henry McBrain (Hackney (London), June 5, 1952) is the drummer of British heavy metal band Iron Maiden.
In the 1970s, McBrain played on several Pat Travers albums. He played with the Streetwalkers from 1975 to 1976. He was also a drum roadie for Anthrax and was in the band McKitty in the early 1980s. It was during a McKitty gig in Belgium that he met Steve Harris. With his band Trust, McBrain fronted Iron Maiden in 1982. He joined Iron Maiden in 1983 as a replacement for Clive Burr. He has been a regular band member of Iron Maiden ever since.
McBrain uses Premier drums and Paiste cymbals. For a long time he played on Sonor drums until he switched in 1994. For the 2016 – 2017 “Book of Souls” world tour, Sonor drums created a special drum kit for Nicko McBrain in the style of the album’s Inca/Maya artwork. To complement this new Sonor kit, Paiste made a special cymbal edition printed in the same artwork. (Source Wikipedia)
