We can be brief about Sjoerd van Bommel: many Dutch bands have used his services, both live and in the theater. Acts like Jango Edwards, Bots, Frederique Spigt, Ro-Theater, Orkater Amsterdam, and of course, his previous duo with piano maestro Clemens van de Ven left a lasting impression. He also played with the trio BRO with Mike Roelofs and Bart Oostindie, the Watchman, Philip Kroonenberg, Fatcats, Mrs. Hips, Ugly White Belly, a fusion band with Rolf Delfos and Boudewijn Lucas, and various formations with BJ Baartmans, including Hidden Agenda deLuxe and The Space Age Travellers—almost too many to mention. His percussive, melodic drumming style, based on black soul/roots music, ensures you can always swing while also creating deeper layers in the music. He is also known as the singing drummer with a remarkably dark timbre.
