I’m Tom! I was born in 1989 and started playing the drums when I was around twelve. I started taking drum lessons in my hometown Steenbergen with Marco Brok. I did that for a few years. When I was 18, I came into contact with the Shabby Harry’s through a good friend. A local rock band that was looking for a drummer to fill in for a rehearsal. That rekindled my passion for drumming! A few years later I joined them as a permanent drummer and we played several shows throughout the Netherlands and a part of Belgium! We played alternative (our own) music and it was difficult to attract full venues. Around the age of 25 I stopped and started the band Down to Eleven with a number of talented musicians. We played accessible rock from the 90’s and completely rocked many venues. We even formed a small fan base that came to most of our performances! In 2019 the band unfortunately stopped and I started focusing more on my development as a drummer. I started drum coaching with Juan van Emmerloot. The Groove Impact Academy has given me so much and to this day I still follow drum coaching there. Through this route I came into contact with other styles and I started to deal with this beautiful instrument in a more mature way. I have done various substitute jobs and a bit of studio work. From 2021 to 2023 I played drums in the bands Back2Square and AndNext. Both bands with influences from funk, soul and jazz. With AndNext we recorded the EP ‘La Vie Boheme’ in 2022. At the end of 2023 I started drumming with Tabbernakkel. A local dialect rock band with friends I have known for over 15 years. At the moment I still enjoy drumming with Tabbernakkel and occasionally do substitute work. I love doing substitute work! Creating something really cool in a short time with few rehearsals. In the meantime I continue to work on my own sound with influences from my drum heroes including Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Chad Szeliga (Breaking Benjamin), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) & Benny Greb (Session Drummer).
