Back in the 1980s she played drums for an all girl rock band called Separate Checks. They played ALOT up and down the east coast of the United States. They were on TV several times and were featured on WMMR and WYSP’s live radio broadcasts. They played their 45 as well. They would headline at clubs but also opened for national acts such as Peter Frampton, Meatloaf, Robin Trower (they were on tour with Robin Trower), the Tubes, Nils Lofgren, Bryan Adams, the Hooters and Robert Hazard. Robert Hazard wrote a song for them to perform. He also wrote Girls Just Wanna Have Fun for Cyndi Lauper. It was a great time to be in music. After the band broke up in 1988 she took a break from playing for quite a while. Once a drummer, always a drummer, so she is playing again and has a YouTube channel called Cathy Drums.
