Drummer, drum clinician, drum teacher, composer and mixer/producer Jeroen Simons is best known as “the original drummer of EPICA”, a worldwide famous female fronted metalband, but Jeroen also has worked with a lot of other (inter-) national artists in various music styles as a studio & session player: Hotclub de Nashville, Pat Bergeson, Thomas Blug, Dave Pomeroy, Jerome Hol, Frans Blanker (Candy Dulfer), Emma Heesters (famous YouTube-artist), the famous metal model Mahafsoun (Akheth), Robert Soeterboek (Ayreon),Stan Verbraak (Ayreon, Helloise), Zendhy Kusama (Indonesia), Lillian Liu (pianist,artist from Canada), Gino Mehauden (Rob de Nijs band, NL), Jarmo Lopulissa (Isabel, NL) Marjon van Iwaarden (2Unlimited2) and many more… He also did drumclinics for: Amedia Cymbals, Balbex sticks and Cympad since 2005.
Jeroen launched his first very complex drumbook on Amazon: Progressive Licks & Beats for the 21st Century Drummer, where he already got a very positive review from West-European drum magazine: SLAGWERKKRANT and of monster-drummer Travis Orbin (USA). His second drumbook: “Complex licks in odd times” will be released around the end of 2024 on Amazon.
Jeroen also teaches modern drumming styles, is a recording-/mixing engineer at the biggest music school in The Netherlands (Muziekschool Zeeland) and is known for his practising-drums discipline and his hunger for knowledge in many fields. This hunger makes him also an appreciated guest-artist on the Produce like a Pro Academy/Puremix and regular posting drum-technique related videos on Instagram and YouTube.
In 2022, Jeroen was an recording- and mixing assistant for a big new classical festival: MMF (Mostly Modern Festival https://www.mostlymodernfestival.nl/) that featured big names in the classical world from the USA and aspiring composers, in the 2023 edition that was 2 weeks (instead of 1 week in 2022) he was the recording- and mixing engineer and he work with established names : Robert Paterson, Davide Tammaro, Dave Eggar (famous session cellist for Coldplay and many others), Joanne Yesol Choi, Albert Brouwer, Olivier Hebert-Bouchard and many others…
In 2023, Jeroen did a big session as a studio drummer for the famous Dutch arranger and piano player Co Vergouwen with the song “Bas” composed by Hans Hest, also featured the famous banjo player Arno Hagenaars. He also did a production song for the local authorities (region Zeeland) in The Netherlands, where he also played drums on, also featured Bart van Gorp (metropole orchestra, session) on trombone.
In 2024 Jeroen worked as the recording- and mixing engineer with Mostly modern festival NL and he worked with artists like : Dior string Quartet, Neave trio and several composers: Hirad Moradi, Austin White, Douwe Eisenga, Rosy Wertheim, Stephen Cabell, Yu-Chieh Chang, Dave Eggar and many others.
Jeroen finished writing his second drumbook in Okt 2024 : Complex licks in odd times that is available on Amazon, he has recorded live drums/percussion for the Dutch film director Pet Holman: Poder di Awa documentary and mixed the whole recording session (together with synth/piano played by Franky Decock).
In 2025 Jeroen did record several jingles internal at the music school he teaches drums at (Muziekschool Zeeland) and did a song for singer-songwriter duo Sense and for a Polish project: Bractwo stali, with his friend/software developer (former- PSP Audioware) Adam T. He also recorded a song for Dutch guitar player Chris Krekelberg and is busy with making a snare drum sample pack for Hertz Drums to be released at the end of 2025. Ofcourse Jeroen recorded and mixed this years MMF The Netherlands modern classical festival, with several world class musicians in the modern classical field: Willem Stam, Ryoko Imai, Gwyneth Wentink, and many more…
On 03 Sept Jeroen played with a special session band (Muziekschool Zeeland) formed 3 covers in a jazzfusion form of the Dutch famous band Blof for the old minister Hugo de Jonges new function big party at the old Niewe kerk at Middelburg ( comissaris van de Koning), 600 people from the old goverment (Balkenende, Donner, etc) and many more people related to politics were there to celibrate in luxurious style…
As for every year Jeroen also did perform live and did record drums/percussion in various styles as a session drummer.
