Yate de Swaaf (born 2001) is still at the beginning of his musical journey. After a year of studying Musician 3.0, he is now starting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Pop. He plays in various bands, including Straydog, Centrepiece Colourised, and House Arrest, and also enjoys doing session work for other musicians.
He inherited a love of rhythm from his family: his father, percussionist Simon de Swaaf, was a key inspiration for him to start making music himself. However, he initially followed a different path and completed a bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, with a particular interest in paleontology.
Yate enjoys pushing the boundaries of drumming. He experiments with effects, enjoys unconventional collaborations, and plays with an open mind, exploring everything that can arise. His playing is still evolving, always driven by curiosity and a passion for making music and the craft of drumming.
