Peter Wezenbeek has left his drum tracks in the music industry. As a 9-year-old boy, he started as a drummer in a pop band that was part of a children’s show in Dutch theaters. During this show, they played Top 40 songs and some of their own work. Almost every weekend, this children’s show could be found somewhere in the theaters of the Netherlands. Eventually, they broke through in 1983 as The Shorts with Comment Ca Va. The single was sold millions of times and the band performed in almost all countries in Europe. The gold and platinum records hang as silent witnesses on the wall in Droomtent. On the internet and YouTube, you can find a rich offer of all the domestic and foreign TV shows where The Shorts have been. In the period after that, Peter was active as a drummer in various bands and he built his first analogue recording studio called ‘Wesy Music’ on top of his house.
Years later, Droomtent Recording studio was realized, built under the supervision of an architect who specializes in designing acoustic studios. We asked Peter why he wanted to build this studio.
“There is nothing more fun than making music and listening to it, the rest is secondary. Music is pure emotion, colours life and is important to every person. I have so many wonderful memories of music and am grateful for every beautiful song that has been released in pop music. Talent, emotion and passion in musicians is so cool to see. What I wanted a professional sound studio for is, of course for myself, but also for others, to continue to feed the beautiful phenomenon of ‘music’ with new beautiful songs and performances. There are so many talented people who deserve to give their own creations a stage by making a beautiful recording of them. And that is possible here in my sound studio with the professional equipment, vintage instruments and amplifiers, humour, passion and fun.
A beautiful mix of a song as the end result is the icing on the cake and that is what all those home recordings often lack. They have the passion but not the knowledge, the experience and the necessary equipment with a good sounding recording and control room.
