Stephan Ebn (* February 13, 1978, in Kelheim, Germany) is a renowned drummer and music producer with an international career spanning rock, pop, and jazz.
After studying jazz drums at the University of Music Nuremberg-Augsburg (1998–2003), Ebn quickly established himself as a sought-after studio and live musician in Europe and the USA. His versatility has led to collaborations with artists such as Gianna Nannini, Middle of the Road, Lynn Anderson, Helmut Zerlett, Kimberley Dahme, and Jon Walmsley. In the jazz scene, he has worked with Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Claus Stötter, and Jörg Widmoser, among others.
Since 2006, Ebn has been the drummer and programmer for the Scottish band Middle of the Road, touring extensively across Europe. In 2007, he began his close collaboration with Gianna Nannini, both in the studio and on stage – including over 60 concerts during the Giannabest Tour 2008 and a performance at the legendary Amiche per l’Abruzzo benefit concert in Milan’s San Siro Stadium in 2009.
As a studio musician and producer, he has worked in prestigious studios in Nashville, London, Glasgow, and Milan. He has contributed to numerous album productions and film soundtracks, including Neues vom Wixxer, Jerry Cotton, and Trans Bavaria.
Beyond his work as a drummer, Ebn is also active as a bandleader. In 2012, he founded Starbust, alongside Helmut Zerlett, Giacomo Castellano, and Hans Maahn, serving both as a backing band for international artists and as an independent instrumental ensemble. That same year, he formed the Stephan Ebn Band, blending jazz, rock, and modern influences. In 2022, he co-founded the Balkon Jazz Ballett with Anna Katharina Kränzlein, fusing classical music, jazz, and gypsy swing.
Stephan Ebn is based in Abensberg, Germany, and continues to be a prominent figure in the international music scene.
